This study focuses on the main ways that social media could contribute towards building an effective community-policing framework in society. This paper investigates the gap between the current practices in social media and enhancement ofcommunity policing in the society. Through this research, the study has developed a system prototype that helps improve the effectiveness of social media in improving the community-policing process in the society. The study used anexperimental research design. To evaluate the model, Stratified random sampling was used to select 20 users from the police department and another 20 users from the general population. A questionnaire was used for data collection, coupled with theoretical work from previous research. As a result, a prototype was developed based on a model framework, and experimental testing done to measure the efficiency and practicality of the system. The Results generated after data analysis were then used for system design and development. They also showed that there was an overall need for a bridge/ link between social media and communitypolicing. In Conclusion, the researchers did achieve and deliver on all the objectives that they set out to deliver. Several recommendations were also made in an effort to enhance the utilization of the ‘Usalama Kenya System’. The benefits in implementing this system prototype on Law enforcement agencies, researchers, developers, as well as policy makers was found to be immense, hence it is the researchers’ suggestion that further investigation and work should be done on this studyen_US
