dc.description.abstractOrganizations from both the private and public sector are increasingly embracing the practice of strategic planning in anticipation that this will translate to improved performance. Past studies have focused on the direct relationship between strategic planning and performance but they have mainly focused of state corporations and non has covered on private corporations like Dyer and Blair Investment Bank Ltd. Our study sought to examine the relationship of strategic management practices and firm performance in Dyer and Blair Investment Bank Ltd. The study was guided by the following specific objectives: To determine strategic planning practices at Dyer and Blair Investment Bank Ltd and to determine how such practices influences the performance of Dyer and Blair Investment Bank Ltd. A review of the relevant literature was undertaken in order to eliminate duplication of what has been done and provide a clear understanding of existing knowledgebase in the problem area. The literature review is based on authoritative, recent, and original sources such as journals, books, thesis and dissertations. A case study design was used to undertake the study. The population comprised of the chief executive director, revenue director, finance and administration director and risk and compliance director. The study used primary data. An interview guide was used in collecting the primary data. Data was analyzed by employing content analysis to determine the link between the competitive strategies and organizational performance. The study found that strategic planning leads to effective company performance. Strategic planning is an effective way of improving performance of Dyer and Blair Investment Bank Ltd. The findings also showed a significant relationship between the strategies adopted by Dyer and Blair Investment Bank Ltd in Kenya and their respective performances with respect to the following objective performance indicators: total revenue growth, total asset growth, net income growth, market share growth and overall performance or growthen_US
