Perceived performance management practices at ashut engineers limited in Kenya
Abstract
The research objective is to establish perceived performance management practices at Ashut
Engineers Limited. The data was gathered exclusively using the interview guide as the main
research instrument. The interview guide was designed in line with the objective of the study.
The collected data was edited and cleaned for completeness and consistency. After the coding,
the data was keyed into the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) for analysis.
Qualitative primary data was summarized into themes and into homogenous groups. Content
analysis was used to analyze where common responses were grouped according to their
commonality.From the study findings, it can be concluded that there are perceived performance
management practices Ashut Engineers Limited. It was established that there is performance
planning in place to ensure that the employees’ goals are in line with company objectives.
Performance coaching was also found in use to improve understanding of principles and
concepts and their practical application by workers. Ashut Engineers Limited was found to carry
out performance appraisals quarterly. The study established that performance based reward
systems are applied at Ashut Engineers Limited. The balanced scorecard is also in application.
The study recommended that the management of the company should carry out further study on
effectiveness of the performance management practices with the aim of improving them.The
research never considered the challenges and possible solutions to the challenges facing the
performance management of employees at Ashut Engineering Limited. The study suggested that
a further study should be instituted to investigate the challenges and the possible solutions as this
would serve to enrich existing literature.
