dc.description.abstract | The purpose of the study was to identify the Challenges faced by the Ethics and Anti
Corruption Commission on implementing the strategies recommended by United
Nations Convention Against Corruption. The specific objectives were; to determine
the challenges encountered during the implementation of the strategies by EACC and
to establish the strategies adopted by EACC to address the challenges encountered
during implementation.The research method was the case study method and indepth
interviews were carried out. The first phase of the study was issuing the respondents
with a Interview guide, which was followed by indepth interviews. The next phase
involved receiving data , analyzing the data and making recommendations based on
the findings. Some of the challenges identified include financial constraints, staffing
limitations, negative public perception, weak legal frameworks and lack of policy and
slow judicial process. Strategies implemented to overcome the challenges include
looking for alternate funding, lobbying for changes in the legal frameworks and
pursuing prosecutorial powers. Recommendations include additional funding by
government, engaging the public more, strenthening the legal frameworks and
developing a national anti-corruption policy. Further studies should be carried out on
strategies to strengthen the legal frameworks and strategies to improve the judicial
