This work analyses the potential of a web based applications to improve abuse reporting among
employees in organizations. In particular, it focuses on abuse reporting using a web system
developed to support the reporting process and be able to address the challenges of reporting
procedures, reporting hierarchy, reporting language and communication barriers faced by the
existing reporting systems. This study focuses on improving the routine abuse reporting of
employees by identifying the challenges associated with real time reporting of traditional abuses
and determines how web based system can be used to overcome the problem and thus enhance
abuse reporting procedures.
This report presents the findings and a prototype employee abuse web based reporting application
for a University College. A study was carried out among 75 employees comprising of teaching
and non- teaching staff who were randomly sampled. A questionnaire was selected as the research
tool given the nature of the issues we wanted to study. The results were tabulated, analyzed using
qualitative analysis. A prototype web based application on employee abuse reporting was
developed. The researcher developed reporting system prototype and tested it to provide solutions
to the research questions. The tested web based abuse reporting application allows University
College staff to report abuse, crime or work related concerns to the management or to the human
