This workshop paper, part of a large study on ownership of economic enterprise in Kenya, summarises the evidence available on increase distribution in Kenya between 1966 and 1976. A number of different indicators such as the terms of trade between agriculture and industry and the functional distribution of income are considered. While it is difficult to assess whether inequality has increased or not (since it depends upon what measures is being used) the evidence suggest that there has been little diminution in pre-independence pattern of inequality.
