Factors influencing the effectiveness of logistics management information systems in public health sector: A case study of Kenya medical supplies authority
Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the factors influencing the effectiveness of LMIS
in the Public Health Sector a case of KEMSA. The particular objectives that were
analyzed include to determine the factors influencing the effectiveness of LMIS in the
Public Health Sector and to establish the challenges of LMIS usage in the Public Health
Sector. Descriptive design was adopted with 50 respondents considered for the sample. A
census was used and a total of 50 questionnaires were administered for research. 40
questionnaires of valid answers were returned and analysis and various tests were done
using SPSS. This was commanded to produce frequency tables, graphs and the necessary
measure of variance for effective interpretation. The research findings in the research
indicated that LMIS effectiveness was as a result inbound logistics, performance
management, information quality, usability, reliability, logistics cost and inventory
control. The study was of great importance to KEMSA, Kenyan government and donors
it assisted in identifying areas of improvement in LMIS process. The study suggests that
future researchers should do the same using other factors not only the information system
factors but from other corresponding factors that influence the effectiveness of the
information systems
