A survey of headteachers’ ability to provide instructional resources is an important aspect of the implementation process of environmental education in secondary schools in Kenya. The paper focuses on headteachers’ leadership in providing or facilitating instructional resources. The objectives are: (a) to establish the extent to which headteachers facilitate the provision of instructional resources for environmental education in secondary schools; (b) to determine the regular use of instructional resources in environmental education in secondary schools; and (c) to establish the extent to which headteachers encourage the use of local resources in environmental education in secondary schools. Effective learning of environmental education has been associated with special facilities and audio-visual aids, which stimulate the minds and increase retention of what is learnt, such as national parks, museums, laboratories, computers, projectors, videos/films, radios, charts, and textbooks. Availability of these resources will foster learning and improve the behaviour of individuals towards the environment and assist in making informed decisions regarding projects that impact on environment. Headteachers should encourage teachers to make use of local environment projects. The Ministry of Education (MoE) should establish district science centres where students would interact with exhibits to improve their understanding of the environment.en_US
