dc.description.abstractIn order to survive in the competitive environment, it becomes necessary for the threatened MFIS to be aggressive in their search and development of strategies that provide competitive advantage as they step up defensive strategies to protect their competitive advantages. The stiff competition among the MFIS and the entry of other players into the industry necessitate the design of competitive strategies to guarantee their performance. The main objective of the study is to determine the competitive strategies and positioning within a changing business environment adopted by MFIs in Kenya. This research problem was best studied through the use of a case study design. In this study, emphasis was given to primary data. The primary data was collected using interview guide. The interview guide was semi-structured with both open as well as closed questions. The data was analyzed using content analysis. Accordion the research, mission and vision statements were found to be very important to the success of any organizations. Moreover, majority of the staff at Kenya women finance trust value credit and repayment terms greatly in regard to competition. In addition, they are keen on the geographical presence of the organization. Therefore corporate mission and vision statements should be well stated. This will assist in defining the company‘s social, economic, cultural, political and legal environment as well as developing strategies to curb the competitors‘ actions.en
