Damage caused to vegetative growth and yield of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) by Aphis fabae combined with bean common mosaic virus was generally significant when aphid infestation occurred during the early and late vegetative stages of plant development, and to a lesser extent during anthesis. Damage was aggravated by higher (6 aphids/plant) rather than lower initial infestations and when the aphids transmitted the virus.en_US
