Coffee pulp contained metabolizable energy 11 MJ/kg DM, a value that is about double that in grasses and 75% that in cereal grains. The high percentage of hulls in the pulp lowered its nutritive value as hulls were high in fibre and lignin. The anti-nutrient roles of caffeine and tannins in coffee beans are discussed and it is suggested that further studies should be made to improve the nutritive value of coffee pulp.en_US
