dc.description.abstractGrant Opportunities Dear Colleagues: The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced more than $21 million in new grants through its Grand Challenges Explorations initiative. Information on the program and the new global health and development projects being funded can be found at www.grandchallenges.org/about/Newsroom/Pages/GCERound9Grants.aspx. We would also like to remind you that we are inviting proposals for the following grant opportunities: 1.Grand Challenges Explorations, an initiative to encourage innovative and unconventional global health and development solutions, is now accepting grant proposals for its latest application round. Initial grants will be US $100,000 each, and projects showing promise have the opportunity to receive additional funding of up to US $1 million. A list of topics and application instructions are available at: www.grandchallenges.org/explorations . Two-page proposals are being accepted online. Please note that Grand Challenges Explorations closes tomorrow , November 7, 2012 11:30 am Pacific Time. 2. The Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is inviting innovators to send letters of inquiry for the Reinvent The Toilet Challenge - RTTC (round 3). Grants will be awarded to research groups interested in contributing to major advances in sanitation in the developing world. The Grand Challenges in Global Health initiative is accepting letters of inquiry for the new grant program TB Vaccine Accelerator. This program seeks to develop models of natural Mycobacterium tuberculosis transmission, define key transmission properties, and develop new approaches to vaccination that will protect against infection.
