Progressive interstitial pneumonia (maedi) of sheep in Kenya.
Abstract
The disease is manifested clinically by dyspnoea, increased respiration rate, fits of coughing, fatigue and emaciation, and pathological and serological studies suggest that it is similar if not identical to Icelandic maedi. The characteristic lesions are those of a progressive interstitial pneumonia, often with pulmonary lymphoid hyperplasia. Serum from some of the clinical cases showed significant titres of neutralizing antibody to the Icelandic maedi virus M.88.
