| dc.description.abstract | This study works towards establishing the role played by women in peace building in various settings around the world, with Liberia being the case study for various reasons. Liberia is one of the African countries that has been plagued by civil war for over a decade leaving a trail of suffering and destruction with women majorly on the receiving end.
At the same time, Liberia remains one of the few countries that have put in place systems that have seen women in the front line towards rebuilding peace and re-establishing trust with its citizens who in most cases had suffered under the hands of the perpetrators, most having been men. This has included having a police women unit and the democratic election of one of the first woman president in Africa, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. | en_US |
