Schweizer Touristen In Kenia
Abstract
Als Kind hatte ich Gelegenheit, die Schweiz zu besuchen, wo ich auch zur Schule ging und viele Bekanntschaften und Freundschaften schlieBen konnte.
Ein Jahrzehnt nach meiner Riickkehr in meine Heimat schenke ich wieder der Schweiz meine Aufmerksamkeit, indem ich Schweizer Touristen als Thema meiner Magisterarbeit ausgewahlt habe. In der Arbeit werde ich u.a versuchen festzustellen, was Schweizer Touristen dazu bewegt, in Kenia Urlaub zu machen, welche Rolle sie in der kenianischen Wirtschaft als Devisenbringer spielen, und zu welchen Interaktionen es zwischen Schweizer Touristen und Kenianem kommt.
Diese Arbeit ware ohne die Unterstiitzung meines Betreuers und Leiters der Deutschen Abteilung an der Universitat, Dr. Hans Arnold Rau, inzwischen nach Deutschland zuruckgekehrt, kaum entstanden. Ich danke ihm fur seine Hilfe, seine aufbauende Kritik und Korrekturvorschlage. Ich danke auch Dr. Therese Scharer fur ihre Bereitschaft, mir Material fiir die Arbeit zu besorgen. Dankbarkeit mochte ich auch gegeniiber meinem Mann, Omondi, dafiir ausdriicken, daB er mir bei dem Eintippen und der Verteilung der Fragebogen half. Herm Meshack Muendo (Goethe Institut) mochte ich auch danken; er erlaubte es mir -manchmal bis spat in die Nacht hinein- an seinem Komputer zu arbeiten. Herm Gruebbel (Leisure Lodge Hotel), Herm Christoph Speich (Private Safaris) und Herm Osoro (Kenya Utalii College) danke ich herzlich dafiir, daB sie sich die Zeit nahmen, voller Geduld auf meine Interviewfragen
einzugehen. Eine besondere Danksagung gilt Herm Walter Streuli, einem ehemaligen Klassenlehrer in der Schweiz, der die Fragebogen in der Schweiz verteilte und dafur sorgte, dafi ich sie wieder zuriickbekam.
