The mass media as a key stakeholder towards Vision 2030 have a role to inform and educate their readers, listeners and viewers on continued innovations and development in science and technology. This information holds skills that people require to solve their day to day problems and to progress in their lives. This study sought to evaluate audience perception of the contribution of the print media to the development of science and technology in Kenya. To achieve this in this research, questionnaires were administered to a representative sample of readers in Nairobi to establish: The needs of audiences for science and technology information; the value that science and technology stories add to the life of the audience and the perception of the audience towards coverage of science and technology as compared to politics, entertainment and business news? Major findings in the research show that 84% of the respondents are interested in science and technology information; a significant proportion of respondents, 64.5% read the newspapers from everyday to once to 3 times a week. Another finding is that 56% of the respondents come across science and technology information in the newspaper once or twice in a week. Recommendations from the findings include the need for rigorous citizen sensitization programme on innovations and its impact to society; frequent scientific programming and editorials by the media and training more journalists in covering news and information on science and technology.en_US
