This paper analyzes demand for health care in rural Kenya. It was motivated by desire to analyze the effects of user fees on utilization of health care following the introduction of cost sharing in government health facilities. A discrete choice model of health care demand is proposed and maximum likelihood estimation of the model performed. The study utilizes data from Welfare Monitoring Survey 1997. The main finding is that demand for health care decreases with increase in user fees.en_US
