dc.description.abstractThe problem of school drop-out is a prevailing phenomenon that has invited a lot of criticism from various quarters with academic feeders taking the front line. School heads, leaders of institutions aj higher learning, academic officials and the general public have condemned such youths as an embarrassment. The more the leaders condemn the problem the more chronic it becomes. This research involves a fairly comprehensive study of the school drop-out problem with major emphasis on reasons for dropping out of school and their linkage to the family . There is need to reexamine cultural practices within marriage and family^ poverty, family instability, problems associated with school enrolment are linked to school drop-out.en_US
