dc.description.abstract | CSR activities are treated as an investment not as a cost or expense where it shows the relationship between corporation and the stakeholders such as the customers, investors, employees and society as a whole. The objective of the study was to establish the relationship between corporate social responsibility and firm value among firms listed at the Nairobi Securities Exchange. The study adopted adopted the descriptive research design. The population of the study constituted all 64 companies listed at the NSE as at July 2016. The study concludes that involvement in corporate social responsibilities CSR enhances the value of the firm listed at NSE. The total cost on CSR also enhances the value of firm listed at NSE. There is statistically significant association exists between total cost of CSR act ivies, size of the firm and the value of the firms listed at NSE. The study concludes that strong positive significant correlation exists between total cost on CSR and the value of the firm listed at NSE. Furthermore, moderate significant correlation exists between the size of the firm and value of the firm. The study recommends that management of all listed firms at NSE should actively put in place Corporate Social Responsibility programmes that will enhance their values. These CSR programmes include donating food to the poor and charity works. The Central bank of Kenya should instill proper and sound fiscal and monetary policies that will stabilize inflationary pressure within the country. This will stabilize the level of inflation and therefore enhancing the value of listed firms at NSE. The study also recommends that all listed firms should seek to grow and expand their market sizes and shares. This calls for the formulation of proper growth strategies.
