| dc.description.abstract | The growth in number and size of NGOs has been met with a growing concern about identifying the achievements of NGOs and their effectiveness. One-way NGOs can demonstrate results and success of their projects to their beneficiaries is through changes brought about. This study sort to determine the factors that influence the performance of NGOs in health projects. The objectives of the study was be to: To determine the extent in which stakeholder’s engagement influence the performance of health projects, to investigate the extent in which availability of donor funds influence the performance of health projects in Kenya, to assess the extent in which monitoring and evaluation activities influence the performance of health projects, and to evaluate the extent in which project managers’/coordinators’ competency influence the performance of health projects in Kenya. The study utilized descriptive research design with a sample of 233 participants. A census sampling method was applied due to small number of target population targeted. The study was conducted in the following NGOS: Ace Africa, CREADIS, Save the Children and MANI. A pilot study was conducted in ICAP. The results showed that the stakeholder engagement was not given any priority in the implementation of projects. This was seen in the case where majority of the respondents admitted to not having standard operating procedures to engage stakeholders and failing to conduct stakeholder analysis, it was also concluded that NGOs did not have reliable donor funds and that the available funds was not utilized efficiently, it was also concluded that NGOs did not use monitoring and evaluation plan to guide the operations of the health projects. | en_US |
