Process engineering and energy conservation in Kenyan food processing industry
Abstract
Kenya relies heavily on imported energy, particularly oil, for her economic activity. There
is a need to adopt energy conservation mea8ure8 in order to improve the balance of payments situation: Implementation of these mea8ure8 in the food processinq indu8try will have a marked impact on overall energy consumption: Process engineers are ideally suited to this task and, in view of their present scarcity, their training at degree level should be of high priority.
