dc.description.abstract | HIV testing in the antenatal clinic is an entry point for interventions to prevent mother to child transmission. It is therefore crucial that all women learn their HIV status during pregnancy. The approach used may influence the uptake of testing. HIV testing at the Kisumu District Hospital was initially offered using and ‘opt-in’ approach whereby in-depth counseling is instituted and women are required to request for the test as a separate component of their care. | en |
