dc.description.abstractThe skills and capabilities of people who are put to fruitful use can be a more important in determinant of the country's long-term economic achievement and that of the company. The purpose of the study was to assess the effect of human resource management practices on the organizational commitment of five-star hotels in Nairobi, Kenya. Independent variables were recruitment and selection, well-programs, promotions and transfers, compensation, training and development, while organizational commitment was taken as a dependent variable. The research was based on the theory of social exchange theory and the theory of human capital. The research followed a descriptive cross-sectional research design and multi-stage sampling techniques. Qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques have been used. The result showed that recruitment and choice in the five-star hotels aligned the applicant's skills with the job demands. Findings also observed that organizational training is adapted to the learning and development of workers and that hotel compensation functions as a motivational tool for workers. The research concluded that recruitment and selection along with training and development significantly impact on organisation commitment of five star hotels in Nairobi. The research recommended that the five star hotels should adopt the training and development so as to enhance competence and growth.en_US
