dc.description.abstract | Diseases of the urinary system necessitating surgery are not commonly encountered other than those procedures associated with urinary calculi or occurring as a result. of traumatic injuries. The effect of surgery on the urinary tract must be considered as-it may interfere with the future re¬productive life of a breeding animal. Such operations may also prove economically unsound (Walker & Hull 1984; Lundvall 1974). The surgical conditions of the urinary tract in the bo¬vine can be broadly divided into those commonly affecting males such as urethral obstruction due to calculi, rupture of the uretlira or bladder; those affecting females such as pyelonephritis and eversion of the urinary bladder and those affecting calves such as patent or pervious urachus. | en |
