| dc.description.abstract | Education administrators playa very big role in the education of pupils. In their day to day running of schools the educational administrators are called upon to play many different roles. In the process of playing their roles the administrators might consciously or unconsciously causes wastage of pupils to take place. The purpose of the study was to find out the roles of administrators that contribute to wastage in Nakuru North District. The research questions were based on contribution of administrators in wastage, performance and wastage, curriculum delivery and wastage methodology and wastage, school environment and wastage and lastly guidance and counselling and wastage.
The literature review dealt with the studies done on wastage and the views of many scholars on wastage and their suggestion on how to remedy the wastage problem. The researcher used the ex-post facto design in the study. Simple random sampling was done where 20 schools out of the 64 were selected. Questionnaires and document study were used to collect data. Findings of the study revealed that administrators contributed to wastage through forced repetition, strict discipline, poor or lack of physical facilities, lack of sanitary facilities, poor curriculum and instructions delivery, poor teaching methodology and lack of guidance and counselling services.
Suggestions have been made on how to remedy the situation. They include banning of repetition, improving existing physical facilities, providing guidance and counselling services, employment of more teachers, enhancing supervision and
discipline of teachers. It is hoped that the study will give an insight into addressing the problems of wastage. | en |
