dc.description.abstract | Circumcision is the oldest and commonest surgical procedure in boys as from the 12th to
20th year's of life. This study looks at operations done at Kenyatta national Hospital. The
indications being social. cultural. ritual. tribal or religious, requirement. personal and
medical. It presents the demographic distribution: it studies the profile of surgical
presentations and indications and finally the post-operative outcome. It also looks at the
accuracy of diagnosis of phimosis. paraphimosis and balanitis and need for ensuring
expeditious treatment and discharge. In conclusion it defines the need for improvement and
availability of this procedure while discouraging the unnecessary removal of the foreskin.
