Current concepts in the treatment of sickle cell disease
Abstract
The treatment of sickle cell disease is still primarily symptomatic. However, there have been major advances in understanding the pathophysiology of sickling syndromes. This in turn has led to a proper approach in the management of the sickle cell patient. This paper describes treatment regimens as we best understand them today.
