dc.description.abstractTeachers have the greatest potential to influence children's Education. Inferences regarding to the quality of teachers, schools and administrators are often based on how well students perform in tests. The Purpose of this study was to find out the factors that influence teacher effectiveness in curriculum implementation in public secondary schools in Abogeta Division, South lmenti District, Kenya, The objective of this research was to establish how level of staffing of teachers influences teacher effectiveness in curriculum implementation in public secondary schools, determine the extent to which teacher qualifications influences teacher effectiveness on curriculum implementation, examine the influence of instructional resources availability on teacher effectiveness in the implementation of curriculum and investigate the extent to which teachers choice of teaching strategies influence teacher effectiveness in curriculum implementation in public secondary schools in Abogeta Division. The researcher used a descriptive research design. The design helped to answer the questions such as how, what, when, and where. Thus the design was suitable to answer the questions concerning the current status of curriculum implementation in public secondary schools in Abogeta Division. The research focused on public secondary schools in Abogeta division of Imcnti south district where teachers and head teachers were interviewed. The study sample 'was selected Irom the target population using purposive sampling method t0 get the samples. Simple random sampling was then used to take respondents in each group. The study used self administered questionnaires to collect data. The, researcher' used drop and pick method to administer the questionnaires.The data were processed and analyzed using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). Descriptive statistics such as frequency distribution and percentages were used for analysis. The results were presented in summary reports and tables based Oil those tests and analysis of research dimensions. Research findings were used to conclude research questions and recommendations Were given concerning those factors that influence teacher effectiveness in curriculum implementation. Findings revealed that there were no enough teachers in all subjects and this greatly influenced performance. Analysis of the study revealed that majority of the teachers in the public school arc graduates, but asserted that the level does Hot very much affect the teaching, but graduate level of the teacher improves the teaching. They revealed that there arc no enough instructional materials in schools and this could influence the performance. In regard to teaching strategy, most teachers choose lecture method of leaching as an effective method. The analysis showed that choice of teaching strategy influences the teaching and that workload affects the choice of the strategy. The research recommended that the government may look for ways and means of deploying more teachers in public secondary schools; for the existing teachers' strategies should be laid down to create even distribution of teachers to address disparities especially in day public secondary schools. Teachers being deliverers of the prescribed curriculum should be well trained to acquire knowledge and skills to be competent enough to teach in secondary schools. The research also recommended that the ministry of education and the secondary school head teachers should ensure that schools are provided with adequate teaching instructional material in order to improve teacher effectiveness in curriculum implementation in secondary schools. Teaching strategies influences teacher effectiveness in curriculum implementation hence teachers should be able to choose the right strategies. The study recommends that another study should be conducted in other areas of the country or more districts to establish whether the same factors affected teacher effectiveness in curriculum implementation in public secondary schools and other categories of schools.en_US
