TThe challenges faced by sports administrators in the running of sports and games in the University of Nairobi, Kenya
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the challenges faced by sports administrators in the running of sports and games in the University of Nairobi. As part of the management of sports in the institution, I felt compelled to investigate the causes of
problems the department faced. These problems and challenges included financial
constraints, perceived social issues, curriculum, training administrative structures and
technical problems.
The target population was sixty sports and games administrators in the University of
Nairobi sports department. Using Krenjie and Morgans table reflected in Mulusa 1988, a sample of 52 was randomly selected. The researcher used both a questionnaire and an observation schedule to obtain information for the study.
The questionnaire was administered to a sample of 52 administrators, of which 30 or 57% were correctly filled and returned. For data analysis, descriptive statistics were used.
The research was guided by five research objectives from which five research questions were developed. The research questions sought information concerning.
1. Financial problems hindering administration of sports and games in the University of
Nairobi.
2. Administrative structural problems hindering the success of sports and games in the
University of Nairobi.
3. Social problems affecting administration of sports and games in the University of
Nairobi.
