It also used both qualitative and quantitative research paradigms. A total of 180 questionnaires were administered to the students. Streaming was not considered and the study used the purposive sampling. The study used questionnaires for two groups; the teachers and the students. The study also used a likert scale and the focused group discussions. The study used the SPSS where the responses were coded, tabulated and processed. For quantitative data the researcher analyzed the data using frequency tables and pie charts. The study found out that most girls 52.6% were aware of the guidance and counseling services in the school. On the extent to which the girls seek guidance and counseling, majority of the respondents 82.1 % believes that it was important for a school to have guidance and counseling services. 56.6% believed that guidance and counseling has positive effect on behaviour while 71.1 % felt that guidance and counseling should be done to form two and three adequately. Majority of the girls believed that guidance and counseling should be emphasized in form two and three The study recommends that girls should be made aware of guidance and counseling in a school immediately after they join the school. Girls should also be encouraged to seek for the guidance and counseling services since one should not only be for people who have problems. This can be done through seminars. Girls should be educated more on the importance of guidance and counseling. T teachers should also attend INSETs organized by government and non governmental organizations. They should also be educated on how it can bring positive change in behaviour and although from twos and threes should be provided with the services adequately. The study should be carried out in special schools since Karinga is not a special school and also the study should be done in all schools in Gatundu district.en_US
