The impact of Kenya's post election violence on the growth of youth enterprises in Kibera, Nairobi, Kenya
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to establish the impact of Kenya's post election violence on the growth of youth enterprises in Kibera, Nairobi. This study has three objectives namely: To determine the extent to which chaos affected the growth of youth enterprises in Kibera, to determine the extent to which political injustice affected the growth of youth enterprises and to determine the extent to which economic instability affected the growth of youth enterprises in Kibera. The statistical methodology used in this study is descriptive statistics. The sample was selected using the Fischer's formula and the sample was selected using simple random sampling using questionnaires. Descriptive statistics from this study is presented in tables.
The findings of these objectives are very important because they will provide policy makers with useful information necessary in preventing the recurrence of post election violence; they will guide policy makers in setting up new strategies for sensitizing the youth against post election violence; it will provide literature on a topic not widely explored by researchers since most studies have been based on the impact of the post election violence on the internally displaced victims and not on the youth owning enterprises; the results of the study will also enable the stakeholders know what policies to implement to avert the occurrence of post election violence.
