dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study was to establish the effects of stake-holders participatory management on K.C.S.E performance in Public Secondary Schools in Awendo District. Four research questions were formulated to guide in the study. The study employed a descriptive survey. The sample consisted of 15 headteachers and 15 Board of Governors, 15 Parents Teacher Association Officials and 30 teachers. Data was collected by use of questionnaires. The stake-holders were involved in student matters. In this research question, 34% of the head teachers said the BOGIPTA were. involved frequently and 27% said it was involved always. Among the PTAIBOG respondents, 26.3% said the BOGIPTA were involved sometimes, 22.8% said it was involved frequently and 24.1 % said it was involved always. Findings also revealed that the stakeholders were involved in curriculum and instruction. Among the head teachers respondents, 38% said they were involved frequently ad 29.3% said the BOGIPTA were involved always. Among the PTAlBOG, 29.8% said the BOGIPTA were involved always and 21.8% said the BOGIPTA were involved frequently. There were difficulties encountered by headteachers as they tried to collaborate with the BOGIPT A. Such difficulties include lack of the BOG.PTA understanding on their role in school, illiteracy, negative attitude towards the schools and lack of time. From the findings the study concluded that the BOGIPTA played a significant role in the management of secondary schools in areas of financial management. The findings also the BOGIPT A involved in the provision of physical facilities specifically it was involved in planning for the development and expansion of school plants and facilities. The study also concluded that the BOGIPTA were involvement in areas of curriculum and instruction. Based on the findings of the study, the study recommended that the BOGIPTA should be educated on the importance of being involved in the running of the school. It was also recommended that the head teacher should be at the front line in the establishment of good school community relations so that the community should not have a negative attitude towards the school. The study further recommended that government should initiate in service courses for the BOGIPT A to enhance their efficiency in the management of the school. Based on the limitations and delimitations of the study, the researcher suggested that a study on the role of community in maintaining school' discipline should be conducted. He also suggested that a study on community influence on academic performance of secondary schools should be conducted. A study on challenges facing school- community relations should be conducted while a study of role of head teachers in facilitating good school-community relations should be conducteden_US
