dc.description.abstractWater is a major resource in Human life and so without it, life for Mankind is not sustainable. Nairobi city residents have for some times been faced with water shortages and the Government of Kenya has not assumed this, but has worked with all the stakeholders in the water sector to ensure that every effort is made for the residents of Nairobi to have access of clean and safe water. The purpose of the study therefore was based on factors influencing supply of clean and safe water to the residents of Nairobi. The study had clear objectives of analyzing how operation and maintenance, management of water resource and pipeline water transmission, technology used in water abstraction and rainfall availability influence supply of clean and safe water to the residents of Nairobi, Kenya. The methodology used in the study was descriptive survey design, with both primary and secondary sources of data applied; Probability sampling, stratified, simple and purposeful methods of sampling also featured mainly in the study methodology. The study was based on a sample size of about 120 respondents. Instruments applied to collect the data were basically, Questionnaire, interview schedules alongside observation forms. The data was analyzed by a way of categorizing, ordering and manipulating. The same data was stored in both electronic and non-electronic forms. Based on the available literature relating to the study, considerable empirical evidence and clear recommendations made available for the study.en_US
