Factors influencing organizational learning: the case of Government press; Nairobi Kenya
Abstract
Organizational learning has attracted widespread attention as a critical ingredient for global strategic effectiveness. Organizations need to learn about foreign markets in order to develop globalization strategies. Research shows that organizations which learned efficiently from experiences in foreign markets were able to expand overseas faster with fewer mistakes. Employee attitudes have been found to interact with environmental factors that influence job satisfaction and turnover intention. Employee motivation to transfer learning appeared to be influenced by organizational learning environments.
This study collected data from respondents serving at supervisory and managerial levels. Purposive sampling technique was used to sample respondents. The findings of this study were that organizational learning had a positive impact on business performance, namely innovation, competitiveness, and economic/financial results. This study made the following recommendations to organizational management:- i) To institute and operate systematically and regularly structural and procedural arrangements that allow its members to collect, analyze, store, disseminate, and use information that is relevant to organizational effectiveness ii) To use the learning transfer climate as a mediator between organizational learning culture and organizational innovation iii) To resort to training and development programmes that would motivate and enhance employee performance leading to the promotion of organizational learning and finally iv) To apply managerial traits that would ensure all stakeholders fulfill their obligations to the organization appropriately.
