Sustainable conservation of wildlife resources has been one of the core objectives of wildlife managers and biologists in many countries in Africa. However, as human population expands, wildlife resources are increasingly subjected to severe pressure, which threatens their existence and sustainability. The general objective of this study was to determine factors influencing the emergence of community wildlife conservancies in lsiolo district. The design of this research was a descriptive survey research. The target population composed of 160 staff in different managerial levels currently employed at the three wildlife conservancies in Isiolo district. Stratified proportionate random sampling technique was used to select the sample. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The findings of the study were, climate change influenced the emergence of community wildlife conservancies. Climate within the region of the wildlife conservancies was bad as the areas are mostly dry with short rain intervals in the months of March and November. Human resource capacity influenced the emergence of community wildlife conservancies to a great extent because different affiliated groups fight for supremacy in the management of the conservancies which in tum leads to unending conflicts. Land tenure security influenced the emergence of community wildlife conservancies in that land which ownership is not clear is at times risky for such development like conservancy formation because a place like Isiolo district is under county council (trust land), therefore the community do not have full control or security to start a conservancy in any place they chose. Socio-economic factors influenced the emergence of community wildlife conservancies to a great extent. Major mode of livelihood in the region within which the conservancy is established is through Pastoralism. The study concludes that climate change influence the emergence of community wildlife conservancies as the areas are mostly dry with short rain intervals. The study made recommendations in accordance to the afore-mentioned research objectives. The government should establish training institutions to train people on the importance of wildlife conservancies in a bid to enhance the human resource capacity and the government should deploy security personnel in the region and also advocate on the importance of education to the community. The study would be useful to community, researchers, academicians and relevant government Departments to have efficient forecast of factors influencing the emergence of community wildlife conservancies in Isiolo District.en_US
