dc.description.abstractThis study investigated the factors affecting the implementation Monitoring and Evaluation programs in Kazi kwa Vijana projects by government ministries in Kakamega Central District. The study focused on the monitoring and evaluation component in the Kazi kwa Vijana projects. The study investigated the influence of funding and training on the implementation monitoring and evaluation programs. The research design which was used is census survey covering those ministries with Kazi Kwa Vijana projects in the District. The research instrument that was used is a questionnaire which contained both open and closed ended questions. This was used in the gathering of quantitative and qualitative data. The findings of this research provides important learning lessons to the Kazi Kwa Vijana project teams at the District level in improving their monitoring and evaluation systems. This is important in ensuring greater effectiveness and efficiency in the attainment of Kazi Kwa Vijana national goals and objectives at the District level. The research revealed several shortcomings in the monitoring and evaluation of Kazi kwa Vijana projects in Kakamega Central District notably serious under funding, lack of skilled manpower and a general negative attitude towards monitoring and evaluation. The study recommends that these critical issues be addressed by up scaling funding for monitoring and evaluation activities, enhanced training of monitoring and evaluation personel and the setting up of dedicated monitoring and evaluation teams at the District level across all ministries implementing Kazi Kwa Vijana projects. This will facilitate efficient implementation of these projects so as to maximize the benefits of this huge investment in the youth of this country.en_US
