Different studies have been done in different parts of the world in regard to women group development projects and their livelihood as indicated in the Literature review of this study. This study was to investigate and find out whether other researchers' findings are true in Sabatia division,Vihiga County on women group development projects. Chapter one has highlighted on the background of the study which shows that women have been languishing in poverty in the whole world but women have started women development projects which influence their lives either positively or negatively. The research objectives outlined in this study were to establish the influence of women group development projects such as Dairy farming, Business activity (Hardware, Cereals, and vegetables), Poultry keeping, and tree planting on the livelihood of women in Sabatia Division. The significance of this study will be used for reference by Future researchers who may have an interest in the same area of study. The government and non governmental organizations policy and decision makers will find the findings, conclusions and recommendations useful in their line of duty. Chapter two discussed the literature review on women group development projects globally, locally in Kenya and gives their findings on factors that influence women group development projects on the livelihood of women. It summarizes on the livelihood factors such as income, savings, education, health, also Government policies as a moderating factor and personal factors, culture, factors of production, Technology, religion and credit saccos as intervening factors . The study adopted descriptive survey design as a major method of research. Data was collected by the researcher from the target population of 1600 women group members. Sample size of 161 respondents was used under the study. Stratified sampling technique was used to single out women groups as a homogenous group. Other method included simple random sampling. Data was collected using questionnaires and interviews. Data was analyzed by use of descriptive statistics comprising of mean, frequency tables and percentages. The key findings revealed that women had involved themselves in women group development projects for their livelihood. They had earned some income; they had saved, educated their children and had accumulated some assets from their development projects. The women livelihood had improved a bit but the situation was still wanting for a better livelihood. The women lack knowledge/skills in monitoring and evaluation on project development and don't have positive attitudes in what they do and the way they look at things. It was also revealed that women encounter very many challenges in their specific development projects. The study concluded that women livelihood was still below average because what they got from their development projects was not sufficient for livelihood. The study recommended that women should be educated so as to be empowered with necessary skills/knowledge and also change their attitudes and look at things and do them positively. The government should strictly follow up good policies and laws. Also provide grants to well run development projects to entice others to do good work. The government and other stakeholders to employ and attach project experts to each development projects for technical advise, monitoring and evaluation of development projects. Lastly Project development issues to be included in Education curriculum at all levels so that at whatever level one drops out of school, will know what group development projects are and what they mean in our society.en_US
