dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to establish the impact of play materials on performance in English language in early childhood centers in Ngong Zone, Kajiado County. A quasis - experimental research design was used to conduct the study. Two (2) early childhood education centers were sampled for the study. Questionnaires for head teachers and teachers, observation schedules and document analysis were administered. The collected data was analyzed using frequencies percentages, mean scores, standard deviations, t-scores and P-values. A two sample independent t-rest was done using SPSS software, to find out whether there any statistical significant difference in children's performance in English Language between children who learn using play materials and those who learn without. The findings reveal that the difference in children performance between the two groups was statistical significant (t(l5)= -8.668, P=.OOO2, - tailed). These findings suggest that children who were taught English language using play materials performed better than those taught without.en
