dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study is to find out the influence of teacher’s characteristics on the use of inquiry based instructional method of teaching science in pre-schools in Kuja Zone, Rongo district, Migori County, Nyanza province. The study has five research questions and five research objectives based on the influence of teacher’s characteristics on effective use of inquiry based approach in teaching science in pre-school. The study population was approximately 63 teachers both in public and private pre-schools in Kuja Zone, Rongo district, Migori County. Forty two (42) teachers were from the public pre- schools of which 33 were female and 9 male, within the other 21 teachers from the private pre-schools in Kuja Zone one (1) was a male. The research design used in the study was a descriptive survey and the study sample covered all teachers that is the total study population because it was a small group. The target population was purposively and randomly selected both male and female teachers. The sample constituted of forty (53) female pre-school teachers and ten (10) male teachers. To collect data, the researcher used questionnaire, interview schedule and observation. The data collected using these tools was recorded, analyzed, interpreted and presented in tables and pie- charts using frequencies and percentages.en
