Abstract
The main theme of the project focuses on parental involvement and pre-school
children’s participation in science activities in Kayole Zone (Embakasi) Nairobi. The
study is divided into five chapters. Chapter one is the background to the problem under
investigation. Chapter 2 dwells on literature review which is the available literature on
the topic. This includes the works of authorities in the area including Dr. Epstein whose
works have extensively given an insight indepth of the area under investigation. There
are other writers, journals and research studies which have been cited in t he chapter to
back my study.
Chapter three dwells on the research methodology. This includes instruments which I
used to achieve my objectives. The main instruments intended questionnaires form preschool
children, parents and pre-school teachers. The methods of data collecting
including sampling method. Their validity and reliability have also been used as tools to
refine my project and correct any anomalies.
The fourth chapter focuses on data analysis and presentation. This dwells on data
analysis techniques like bargraphs and pie charts to evaluate the instruments and analyse
the scope and this proved important because it helped to validate my work. Lastly,
chapter five is conclusion which has mainly focused on the summary and conclusion of
four chapters. There is also a pair of the recommendations that I have put forth to
improve and enrich the research and what needs to be done to increase research in
related area.
