dc.description.abstract | Procurement and information communications technology (lCT) are some of the most rapidly growing in the developed world today. State corporations in Kenya are adopting information and communication technology (K'T) as a tool to improve transparency, effectiveness in service delivery, through implementation of information systems (ISS). Despite this, little research has been done to identify the influence of information communications technology on procurement service delivery among state corporations thus forming the basis of the study; and the objectives included: to investigate how the availability of computerization/automation (lCT) influence procurement service delivery; to examine how competence of procurement professionals and practitioners in lCT influence procurement service; to determine how the effectiveness of lCT influence procurement service and to explore how integration of lCT in procuremnet with the existing system influence procuremnet service delivery in Kenya Rural Roads Authority. This study therefore adopted a descriptive survey design methodology because the researcher collected cross sectional data on influence of information communications technology on procurement service delivery in Kenya Rural Roads Authority.
The main instrument for data collection was open and closed-ended questionnaire, which was administered, targeting the total population through census survey, therefore no sampling was required. Data was collected, cleaned, coded and analyzed with the aid of statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) package; descriptive statistics analysis were used to help in drawing comparisons and conclusions. The results obtained were for the general population. The study established that the information communicatrions technolodgy had a positive impact on procurement service delivery, to all other operations and relevant insitutions in Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA). Most of the employees had basic lCT skills in KeRRA; though there is need for more training and awareness to all employees and initiate lCT programmes that inter-links all the departments/functions. | en_US |
