dc.description.abstract | This study was undertaken to determine the socioeconomic factors influencing the
performance of women in small and micro enterprises in Kenya. The objectives of the study
were aligned with the influence of age, education level, gender roles and access to funds, on
the performance of women in small and micro enterprises in Kenya. The research questions
guiding the study are highlighted in line with the objectives of the study. A statement of the
problem to explain the justification of the study carried out has been highlighted which is:
despite government efforts in Kenya to promote SMEs, not much progress seems to be
achieved. In order to guide the study in achieving the objectives, a conceptual framework was
developed and documented. The research study adopted a descriptive research design. The
study targeted a total number of 349 registered women SMEs operating in Nyeri town. Using
Yamane‘s sampling formula the research sampled 186 respondents who were contacted and
given the questionnaires to fill. The findings were analyzed using SPSS. Based on the
research findings, education level and access to funds were found to be the factors affecting
the performance of women in SMEs in Nyeri town. | en_US |
