dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the research was to investigate the effects of cattle rustling on pupils’ participation in primary schools in Kapedo Napeitom Ward, Turkana East Sub County. The study sought to achieve four objectives. These were to determine effect of cattle rustling on syllabus coverage by pupils in the primary schools in Kapedo Napeitom Ward, Turkana East Sub County, to establish the cattle rustling effect on retention rate of pupils in the primary schools and to find out effect of cattle rustling on class attendance, and make recommendations on the possible measures to be taken to minimize cattle rustling and to improve pupils’ participation in primary school The study focused on five schools; Kapedo mixed primary school, Kapedo Girls primary school, Lomelo primary school, Silale primary school and Napeitom primary school. A descriptive survey design was adapted. The main data collection instruments were questionnaires. There were questionnaires for teachers and standard seven pupils. Prior to the actual study a pilot study was done to test the validity and reliability of the research instruments. Data was analyzed and tabulated using descriptive statistics generated from the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (S.P.S.S). The study established that pupils’ participation in primary schools in Kapedo Napeitom Turkana East Sub County was adversely affected cattle rustling. The study recommends improved security to both pupils and parents to improve pupils’ participation in primary schools.en_US
