dc.description.abstractThe changes in business environment brought about by globalization has increased tremendously in recent years and thus led to the rise of multinational corporations in Kenya. The objective and purpose of this research was to establish perception of employees on retention strategies adopted by multinational corporations in Kenya to manage cultural diversity in the workforce. The study was carried out to contribute to the scarce body of research in this knowledge. The study employed a survey research design. Through proportional allocation method of the stratified sampling technique, a total of 40 respondents were selected from the multinational corporations. Employee perception was measured through a set of self-administered questionnaires that were used to enable gain a better understanding and enable interpretation of results and facilitate analysis through the measure of frequencies and percentage levels in respondents’ response. Data collected was also subjected to inferential and descriptive statistics that included computation of percentages, mean scores and standard deviation in pursuance of the research stated objectives. The study established that there are functional and non-functional retention strategies in the organizations and that they are part of the HR guidelines within the organizational system to retain employees. This therefore meant that multinational corporations as organizations should identify factors that enable organizations to promote effective talent retention and organization performance through their employees to help manage employee turnover. If factors are well executed it will lead to forming good relationships between management and employees and hence manage turnover. This therefore led to the conclusion that, if management is able to identify the basic motivators that will enable retain the best talent and ensure they review the available policies to ensure that employees have a positive perception on available retention strategies and that the employees also take part or are involved in their formulation and implementation, then the employees will have a positiveen_US
