Pupils' performance and attitudes towards Art and Craft in Kenya's 8-4-4 education system in Embu district
Abstract
This study investigates pupils' performance in the Art and Craft
subject and pupils' attitudes towards the subject in the 8-4-4 education system in
Embu District, Kenya. The study seeks to establish if a relationship exists
between pupils' performance in Art and Craft and various variables: the extent to
which schools were equipped to offer Art and Craft, the type of school; urban or
rural; boarding or day, pupils' gender and parental occupations. The study also
investigates if there is a significant difference between pupils' attitudes towards
Art and Craft for different school settings and gender. It also seeks to establish if a
relationship exists between pupils' attitudes and parental occupations. In addition,
the study identifies the main problems affecting the teaching and learning of Art
and Craft in schools.
